Since launching his POP Americana Series to celebrate the 20th century world of pop culture, Nelson De La Nuez has become one of the most popular and collected contemporary artists in the world today. The work is in a league of its own, being fresh, satirical and original. His unique blend of pop and surrealism at first look entices the viewer to look twice and see all of the layers hidden underneath, perhaps in the subconscious mind. De La Nuez’s juxtaposition of everything pop reflects America’s rich culture and history, much of which is exemplified within this pop culture world, showing the images that have withstood the test of time to tell the stories of our past.

The innocence and childlike honesty of many of the pieces are what initially draws the viewer to them and the story that lies beneath is what holds the viewer spellbound. De La Nuez’s masterful combinations of historical moments in time come from his being inspired by past and present history, art history, his vast study of all religions, astronomy and of course American pop culture.
De La Nuez has the right combination of social and cultural relevance in the artwork mixed with emotional ties, all of which have brought him to the forefront of the art world. The galleries, museums and prestigious art collectors took notice and have embraced his work worldwide, including throughout Europe, Alaska, Canada and Australia. He is listed on the “Who’s Who List of the Most Collected Artists of Our Time” and is well on his way to becoming a modern icon.
